Halloween and Lollipops!
Well, it was our first Halloween trick or treating as a family together, with the grandparents and grand children. It was also our toddler’s first. So I decided that she should wear the best dress/costume for her first. I thought of making her a butterfly princess dress. Only, I did not know how. But I got a nice satin purple dress I bought from a thrift store at only 99 cents. The dress is like a bride’s maid’s kind, and it was so beautiful. I thought I could make use of this for her butterfly princess dress. And I did. Here is what it looks like before I sew it:
I took one of her old dresses and referred to its pattern, made some adjustments to make the dress bigger to fit her when she will be 3 years old and up. So the dress would actually be for 3 years old and up. I’d like this dress to also be worn on her 3rd birthday so I really had to sew it pretty. Here is how it looked like when done:
She looked so pretty. She was such a looker with her costume. What I added to that 99 cents satin dress I bought was the organza with glitters on it, which I bought from Joann's at 50% off. The accessorized it with ribbons. I also made her wand and shoes. I spent a total of only $15.00 for her costume, but making it was no joke. I remember what my father told me (as I made this dress), "You can make a scrap turn into something expensive with how you design and make it." My father is an Architect, and yes, he was right! It took me three (3) days to finish this dress. Here is the magic wand I also made:

The wand material? The wooden star was actually only $1.00, and I covered the handle with ribbon, the star with that excess satin cloth that made her dress and put sparkles in it (the glittered glue). Accessorized it with colored bird feather, and the flower (green and yellow) - I bought from a craft store where they had a sale of only $1.00 per stem. Took the flower parts in it and glued it on her wand. I did the same thing for my baby's hairband. She has an old sparkly hairband that all I needed to do was glue on some of those flowers I got.
I made her shoes too. I don't have it on our
online store though, not yet:
Here are more photos of her Halloween 2009:
